The Chopt Story

Chopt was born from a simple but powerful idea: that fast food doesn't have to mean bad food. In 2014, our founders stepped into a tiny kitchen on Varick Street in New York with nothing but a sharp knife, a cutting board, and an obsession with fresh ingredients.

2014

The First Chop

Chopt opens its first location at 200 Varick St, New York. A tiny team with a big vision: make a chopt restaurant that changes how New Yorkers eat on the go.

2016

Menu Expansion & Press Love

We doubled our menu, launched five signature house dressings, and received our first major press feature in New York Magazine — putting Chopt on the city's food map.

2018

Going Green — For Real

Chopt launched its sustainability initiative: 100% compostable packaging, a farm-to-table sourcing network, and a food-rescue partnership with local shelters.

2020

Community in Crisis

During the pandemic, Chopt donated over 10,000 meals to NYC frontline workers and pivoted to contactless ordering — keeping our community nourished when it mattered most.

2022

Digital & Catering Launch
